為什麼是《陽關大道》|Why This Piece

A Contemporary Interpretation of the Zodiac Ram

Rather than reproducing the animal in a naturalistic form, Wang brings together mechanical structures, organic anatomy, and the unmistakable presence of the ram. The familiar zodiac figure enters a distinctly contemporary language.

Knowledge as the Equipment for Moving Forward

Its layered construction resembles a complete system of protective equipment, representing knowledge, technical skill, and experience. In a rapidly changing world, confidence comes from abilities that have been patiently developed and put into practice.

A Steady Step in One’s Own Direction

With its head raised and four feet firmly set, the mechanical ram advances with purpose. It does not follow a path chosen by others; it moves from its own strengths and convictions.

A Meaningful Gift for Professional Achievement

Uniting Chinese zodiac symbolism with a mechanical aesthetic, Full Stride is especially suited to people working in technology, engineering, manufacturing, design, and innovation. It marks a promotion, new venture, professional milestone, or important transition with clarity and substance.

Usage Scenarios

  • A New Venture or New Direction

A considered gift for a business launch, organizational transformation, or new project, expressing readiness, clear purpose, and the courage to move forward.

  • Corporate Gifting in Technology and Innovation

Well suited to clients, partners, and teams in technology, engineering, manufacturing, design, and research—fields where progress depends on both imagination and technical command.

  • Professional Achievement and Promotion

A meaningful gift for someone advancing in their field or taking on greater responsibility, honoring the knowledge and ability behind each assured step forward.

設計細節|Design Detail

A Mechanical Structure Reimagines the Ram

Defined planes, articulated joints, and layered textures reconstruct the animal’s body. Mechanical anatomy and organic form meet in porcelain, giving the traditional zodiac figure a contemporary presence.

A Raised Head Establishes Direction

The ram lifts its head and stands firmly, poised to take its next step. Progress is expressed not through speed, but through composure, balance, and a clear sense of purpose.

Matte Porcelain Reveals Every Layer

The restrained matte finish minimizes glare, allowing the sculpture’s structural transitions and fine textures to remain visible. Its rational construction retains the vitality of a living form.

Design Concept

Full Stride is a limited-edition matte white porcelain sculpture that reimagines the Chinese zodiac ram through a mechanical structure, symbolizing the ability to navigate one’s time while forging an independent path.

The work begins with the Chinese saying, “To do good work, one must first sharpen one’s tools.” Knowledge, technology, and practical skill become the anatomy of the mechanical ram. Its construction is not a simple celebration of machinery, but a reflection on how people prepare themselves to meet change with confidence.

With its head raised and stance composed, the ram suggests that a worthwhile path need not resemble anyone else’s. Tools may evolve and methods may change; what matters is understanding the destination and developing the ability to move toward it.

The Chinese title Yang Guan Da Dao also plays on the word yang, meaning sheep or ram. From NewChi’s perspective, moving with the times does not mean allowing the times to dictate one’s direction. The breadth of the road depends not only on circumstance, but on knowing why one has set out and where one hopes to arrive.

Occasions or Usage

At 31 cm in length, the sculpture has a distinct forward direction. Leave open space in front of the ram’s head so its movement does not appear visually obstructed.

Its matte white surface pairs well with dark wood, metal, stone, and restrained neutral backgrounds. Side lighting will reveal the mechanical planes and fine surface details more clearly.

FAQs

Why is Full Stride designed as a mechanical ram?

The mechanical structure represents modern tools, professional knowledge, and the ability to keep learning. The ram carries the cultural meaning of the Chinese zodiac. Together, they transform a traditional zodiac subject into a contemporary reflection on how people respond to technology and change.

What does Full Stride symbolize?

Full Stride represents the confidence to understand one’s time without surrendering one’s direction. Its mechanical anatomy suggests developed ability, while its raised head and steady stance express clarity, self-possession, and forward movement.

Is this a goat, sheep, or ram sculpture?

The Chinese character 羊 can be translated as goat, sheep, or ram depending on cultural and visual context. Because this sculpture features pronounced horns and a powerful stance, “ram” best describes its form, while it remains part of the broader Chinese zodiac Goat or Sheep tradition.
